Love

“Love does not dominate, it cultivates.” – Goethe

Love is a fickle thing on occasion, but it not meant to be. There are many different types of love and many different types of relationships. Love should be the focal point of any relationship, whether it be friendships or romantic relationships .This requires a true understanding of acceptance, compassion and care. Our ego often keeps us from a deep and honest love. The ego does not enjoy being vulnerable and likes to hide from potential hurt that we fear someone may cause us. Thus we keep many relationships at bay and we continue to live in fear. The thought of love alone should not cause us to have this reaction, but past experiences turn us all into creatures of self preservation.

The key is to surround ourselves with like minded people who are positive and uplifting. People who when they leave our side leave us better than we were before they arrived. The love in our friendships and relationships should cultivate good things deep within us-to encourage us to do better, be better and to reach for our dreams. The best way to ensure that these are the types of relationships we have is to be the type of friend we want the most in our life. If you give great things in friendship, the odds are that you will receive great things in return. But being a good friend should be done in and of itself and not for anything in return.

This also means we may have to analyze our current relationships and see if any of them are overly critical, negative or not constructive to our being. If there is a relationship that is too toxic, it may be time to let go. We need to surround ourselves with people who can cultivate our souls and bring us alive. Love should not dominate our lives in any aspect, it should be a positive and uplifting thing and cultivate us to be the great souls we each have the potential for.

Be appreciative to those who enhance your life today, and ask yourself if you are playing the part in your relationships to help cultivate those around you.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday filled with positive energy, love and light.
